Driving
- from Vancouver
There are various BC Ferry schedules departing from Horseshoe Bay to Nanaimo. The crossing by ferry is approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. From the ferry terminus of Departure Bay in Nanaimo, head north to Port McNeill on Island Highway 19 - approximately 4 hours in total. The journey from Campbell River, the half way point, is approximately 2 hours.
- from Prince Rupert
BC Ferries operate the Inside Passage service between Prince Rupert and Port Hardy. This extremely scenic daytime journey takes approximately 15 hours departing Prince Rupert at 7:30am, arriving into Bear Cove (south of Port Hardy) at 10:30pm. From Bear Cove turn south onto Island Highway 19 to Port McNeill - approximately 30 minutes.
- from Bella Coola
The journey between Bella Coola and Port Hardy, known as the Discovery Coast Passage, is also operated by BC Ferries. The travelling time, scheduled departure and arrival times vary depending on the ports of call, and season. After you disembark the ferry at Bear Cove (south of Port Hardy), travel to Island Highway and turn left to Port McNeill - approximately 30 minutes.

Port McNeill is located approximately 30 minutes south of the town of Port Hardy on Island Highway 19.
- from Telegraph Cove
Port McNeill is located approximately 20 minutes north of the village of Telegraph Cove via Island Highway 19.
Flying
- from Vancouver
Flights are available directly from the South Terminal of the Vancouver Airport to Port Hardy Airport. Pacific Coastal Airlines , Northern Hawk Aviation, and Eagle Air all offer these services.
From the Port Hardy Airport there are taxi services available to Port McNeill or alternatively you may wish to rent a vehicle from the airport.
